Summary:
The golf course Site Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations and tasks that take place on any given project. This may range from delegating oversight of grading, drainage, feature construction, irrigation, special feature construction, grassing crew, or any other type of crews associated with heavy construction to multiple foreman, assistant supervisors, and interns. This position may also involve being very hands on and active with each of the task that are going on. This varies by size and scope of the project.
This position requires knowledge in golf construction, including but not limited to: demolition, grading, drainage, feature construction, irrigation, finishing, and grassing. Extensive travel, covering USA, Mexico, Caribbean Islands may be required. Travel sometimes for extended periods of time (weeks to months at any given time) if a project calls for such specific attention. Overtime as required to meet the needs of the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily preparation of a list of proposed crewmembers and present to project manager.
Daily crew management.
Meet with owners and representatives.
Meet with architect of project.
Understanding and ability to interpret plans and specifications.
Daily recording of as-builts.
Ability to convert as-builts to Auto CAD.
Daily recording of all project quantities.
Daily documentation of production reports as required.
Train employees with the skills which are needed for each specific task.
Any and all other tasks which the project superintendent might need assistance with.
Layout with GPS.
Use of Primavera scheduling.
Operating equipment as needed to complete tasks.
Organize weekly safety meetings and conduct daily huddles with crews.
Assist office Estimators in off season as needed with take-offs, and calling for subcontractor quotes while projects are being estimated.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of all golf course construction practices and techniques.
An unwavering focus on safety.
Strong communication skills.
Strong coordination, time management, active listening and reasoning skills required.
The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and to work toward the solution of those issues.
Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
Negotiation skills
Qualifications:
Experience of Golf Course Construction.
2 year College degree or a minimum of 5 years Construction Site Supervisor experience.
Physical and other requirements
Regularly must be able to move around a construction site on his/her own.
Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
At times effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
Extensive travel is required as a Site Supervisor as projects are located throughout the United States.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
